Las Vegas runs on a low-downforce setup with a downforce demand of 4.0, comparable to Baku and approaching Monza territory. The straightline speed demand of 9.0 and active aero demand of 9.0 reflect a layout built almost entirely around long strip straights connecting short braking zones. Cars are stripped of downforce to maximize top speed, and DRS zones amplify speed differentials significantly. Power unit performance and drag coefficient are the primary pace variables in both qualifying and race trim.
November night temperatures in Las Vegas present a specific tyre warm-up challenge that differs materially from any other race on the calendar. Asphalt surface temperatures can drop below 15 degrees C, making it difficult for soft compounds to reach working temperature in the opening laps. Teams that manage cold-tyre warm-up poorly lose significant ground in the early stint. Braking demand of 7.6 means stop-and-go sections punish mechanical grip deficits. The combination of low tyre temperatures and cold brake operating windows has historically produced unusual opening-lap results.
